Responsibilities

Maintain a high standard of overall look and feel of the store which includes maintaining store cleanliness and recovery standards to deliver our Brand Promises.

Deliver friendly customer service, help customers shop our store and find what they’re looking for.

Collects and disposes of trash following approved procedures.

Dust and damp mop floors following approved procedures.

Moves equipment and products for proper cleaning and places products back in correct placement.

Cleans assigned areas with the use of assigned materials and equipment.

May require mixing water and detergents in containers to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.

Deep clean key areas of the store including but not limited to bathrooms, break rooms, entry ways and other high traffic areas to maintain a clean, safe environment for customers and staff.

Must keep cleaning equipment neat and orderly; notify supervisor of supply needs in advance for replenishment.

Seeks out areas requiring cleaning; takes initiative to complete the task.

Completes all tasks assigned by supervisor.

Performs tasks in accordance with all federal, state and county guidelines.

Maintain positive and respectful interactions with both team members and customers, even in difficult situations, in keeping with the organization’s vision and values.

Project a positive image and serve as a role model for other Team Members.

Other Duties as Assigned

Provide a fast and friendly checkout experience; execute cash handling to standards.

Engage customers on benefits of Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments.

Assist with Omni channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship from Store (SFS).

Participate in the truck unload, stocking, and planogram (POGs) processes.

Support shrink and safety programs.

Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements; execute Company policies and standards.

Retail and/or cleaning experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

Ability to remain standing for long periods of time.

Ability to move throughout the store.

Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching and stretching.

Lifting heavy boxes and accessing high shelves by ladder or similar equipment.

Public retail store setting taking care of our customers; all public areas are climate controlled; some stock rooms may not be climate controlled; some outdoor work if assigned to retrieve shopping carts or while unloading trucks;
Frame shop contains glass cutter and heat press; work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings.

Use of standard commercial cleaners and chemicals from cleaning supplies.

Work Environment

To be standing for long periods of time.

To move throughout the store.

To bend, lift, carry, reach and stretch regularly.

To lift heavy boxes and access high shelves, including using a ladder or similar equipment.

To perform duties in a public retail store setting, which may include working in climate controlled areas, other stock rooms that may not be climate controlled, outdoor environments when retrieving shopping carts or unloading trucks, and the Frame shop with glass cutter and heat press. This role may involve night shifts, weekend work, and early mornings.

To use standard commercial cleaners and chemicals sourced from cleaning supplies.

Michaels requires all team members in this role to be at least sixteen (16) years or older.
