Position: Culturally Competent Youth Outreach Worker
Location: Merritt

Join a dedicated team as a Youth Outreach Worker committed to supporting at-risk youth. This role emphasizes cultural competency and trauma-informed practices for meaningful engagement.

As part of the Youth Connection Team, you will develop and implement outreach services while focusing on building trust with Indigenous youth and their families. This involves education on mental health and collaborating with community entities for comprehensive support services. Your advocacy ensures youth receive holistic and culturally relevant assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and assess youth outreach initiatives

• Educate youth on coping strategies and wellness

• Collaborate with community resources for enhanced support

• Integrate syilx and nłeʔkepmx cultural practices

• Maintain reporting requirements for funding purposes

Requirements:

• Post-secondary degree in Social Work or similar

• At least two years experience supporting Indigenous youth

• Valid BC driver’s license and clear Criminal Record check

• Understanding of historical trauma and cultural sensitivity

• Skills in conflict resolution and communication
