Take a proactive role as a Language Assistant in the Language & Culture department, focusing on preserving the Secwepemctsín language. This full-time position is integral to facilitating community engagement and language education initiatives.
As part of the TteS team, you will collaborate with Fluent Elders and assist in language classes for all ages. Your passion for cultural integrity and intergenerational learning will play a crucial part in community projects. Key areas of focus include resource organization and program development.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the Language team on language initiatives
• Mentor under Fluent Elders while assisting in classes
• Organize community and educational language activities
• Assist in assessment and improvement of language needs
• Promote Western Dialect of Secwepemctsín in initiatives
Requirements:
• Knowledge of Secwépemc traditions and language
• Secwepemctsín educational background required
• Previous experience in language program planning is beneficial
• Competence in reading and writing in Secwepemctsín
• Valid Driver’s License with a clean record
