The Whispering Pines / Clinton Indian Band (WPCIB) is one of the seventeen bands within the Secwepemc territory. Traditionally from the Clinton area, WPCIB membership includes ancestral lineage from both the Pelltíq’t te Pésellkwes (People of the White Earth/ Kelly Lake) and Steke’7ús (People of the Little Hanging Bridge (Big Bar)). As a Band we are committed to serving our community and membership as well as building a future that upholds our Ancestral responsibilities.

Reporting to the Social Programs Manager, the Family Support Worker provides culturally safe, strengths-based support to children, youth, and families from our community. The Family Support Worker helps strengthen family relationships, promotes child and family well-being, connects families with resources and services, and supports healthy families.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct support, advocacy, and case management services to children, youth, and families.
  • Promote family wellness through prevention, early intervention, and family preservation approaches.
  • Assist families in accessing services, resources, and support to address identified needs and goals.
  • Support and strengthen parenting capacity, family relationships, and child well-being.
  • Facilitate referrals and collaborate with community programs, service providers, and partner agencies.
  • Promote cultural connections through participation in community, cultural, and land-based activities.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and confidential documentation.
  • Participate in program planning, community engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications Required
  • Diploma in human services field, specifically social work, health, or community support work.
  • Experience working with First Nations or Indigenous organizations in a support, advocacy and/or outreach role.
  • Experience working with clients with diverse needs and backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with relevant service providers and government agencies.
  • Proficiency in using computers:
    Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license (BC Class
    5) and satisfactory driving record.
  • Must pass a Criminal records check (vulnerable sector).
Preferred
  • Degree in social work or health related field.
  • Current registration with a governing body for Social Workers.
  • Training in trauma-informed care.
  • Knowledge of Secwepemc Nation history, culture, and values.
  • Valid certification in First Aid/CPR (or willing to obtain).
  • Knowledge and appreciation of working in service of Truth and Reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples.
