Join Emerald Centre in Kamloops, BC, as a Support Worker and help vulnerable individuals facing homelessness. Your skills in mental health and addiction will be crucial in this supportive role.
As a Shelter Support Worker, you’ll work casually with schedules from 7.5 to 37.5 hours weekly. Your focus will be on providing essential support using harm reduction principles and a trauma-informed approach. Build connections with clients, fostering goal-setting and advocacy for their needs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support clients experiencing mental health and substance use issues
• Encourage development of life skills and community connections
• Facilitate interactions with external service providers
• Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
• Perform cleaning tasks to maintain facility standards
Requirements:
• At least one year of experience in related fields
• Required certifications:
First Aid/CPR, Food Safe
• Mental Health First Aid is beneficial
• No history of violence in criminal record check
• Strong interpersonal skills are essential
