Purpose of Position
The Mental Health Clinician provides trauma‑informed assessment, brief therapeutic intervention, and crisis stabilization support to individuals and families. The role emphasizes holistic wellness and community reintegration.

Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Assessment and Intervention (70%)

Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial, mental health, substance use, and risk assessments for individuals experiencing crisis.

Assess suicide risk, self‑harm risk, trauma‑related symptoms, mental health concerns, and psychosocial needs.

Provide short‑term counselling and therapeutic interventions to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, substance use concerns, trauma, grief and loss, family conflict, and situational crises.

Utilize trauma‑informed, strengths‑based, solution‑focused, culturally safe, and evidence‑informed approaches to support client wellness and recovery.

Assist clients in developing coping strategies, emotional regulation skills, problem‑solving strategies, and wellness goals.

Develop collaborative treatment plans, safety plans, wellness plans, and follow‑up care plans with clients and families.

Provide individual, family, and group‑based therapeutic support as appropriate.

Provide crisis intervention, stabilization, and emotional support during and following crisis situations.

Support family members impacted by crisis through education, resource navigation, and short‑term supportive counselling.

Provide clinical recommendations regarding referrals, service planning, and ongoing supports.

Monitor client progress, evaluate outcomes, and modify intervention plans as appropriate.

Collaborate with Crisis Response Team members and community partners to support coordinated and client‑centered care.

Maintain confidentiality and professional standards in accordance with regulatory requirements, ethical guidelines, and TteS policies.

Perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with TteS policies, standards, procedures, and cultural protocols.

Case Consultation and Reporting (20%)

Participate in multidisciplinary case consultations and care planning meetings.

Provide clinical recommendations and support for complex client situations.

Consult with internal and external service providers to coordinate care and support service continuity.

Ensure critical incident debriefings are completed following crisis responses.

Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential client records, case notes, assessments, and reports.

Complete program statistics, reporting requirements, and documentation required by funding agreements and organizational policies.

Monitor client progress and adjust intervention strategies as appropriate.

Keep the Clinical Lead/Team Supervisor informed of significant client concerns, emerging risks, and service trends.

Community Outreach and Prevention (10%)

Participate in community outreach, education, and prevention initiatives.

Support community wellness activities that promote mental health, resilience, and harm reduction.

Assist with the development and delivery of workshops, presentations, and awareness activities.

Promote access to crisis response services and community supports.

Build and maintain positive working relationships with community members, Elders, partner agencies, and service providers.

Participate in community events, team meetings, training opportunities, and program development activities as required.

Other Related Duties (As Required)

Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and cultural learning opportunities.

Support program evaluation, quality improvement initiatives, and data collection activities.

Perform other related duties as assigned by the Clinical Lead/Team Supervisor.

Financial Responsibility
No direct budget responsibility

Supervision or Training Duties
May provide orientation, mentoring, peer support, and knowledge transfer as assigned.

Special Requirements

Criminal Record Check – Vulnerable Sector required.

Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
