Purpose
The Shuttle Driver plays a vital role in supporting Rocky Mountaineer’s operations by ensuring the safe and timely transportation of operating crews. Reporting to the Manager, Rail Operations, this position is primarily responsible for transporting crew members between Kamloops, BC and Banff, AB, with scheduled overnight stays in Golden, BC and Banff, AB as needed.
This position entails an average of 74 hours of work every two weeks.
In addition to driving duties, the Shuttle Driver is responsible for routine cleaning, conducting inspections, and monitoring maintenance needs of crew transport vehicles to ensure they remain in safe and reliable condition. Occasionally, the Shuttle Driver may also assist with transporting luggage or other equipment.
Key Areas of Accountability
Vehicle Operations
Safely and efficiently transport operating crews between Kamloops and Banff, including overnight stays in Golden and Banff as required.Perform routine cleaning and upkeep of shuttle vehicles to ensure cleanliness and comfort for passengers.Coordinate vehicle servicing, including routine maintenance and repairs, to ensure vehicles are in safe operating condition.Maintain accurate records of trips, vehicle usage, and any incidents or maintenance performed.Communicate effectively with the Manager, Rail Operations, and other team members regarding schedules, delays, or issues.Ensure compliance with all road safety regulations, company policies, and procedures.Provide professional and courteous service to crew members during transport.Adapt to changes in schedules or routes as required to meet operational needs.Safety
Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and readiness for operation.Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations, prioritizing the safety of passengers and other road users.Report any mechanical issues, safety concerns, or incidents promptly and accurately to the Manager, Rail Operations.Ensure all passengers follow vehicle safety guidelines during transport, including use of seatbelts.Qualifications
Education, Certification, Licenses
BC Class 5 Driver’s License with demonstrated safe driving record required.Experience
Minimum 5 years of driving experience required.Previous experience in passenger transportation or shuttle driving, particularly over long distances or in mountainous terrain, is an asset.Skills

Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with crew members and management.Knowledge of local geography:
Familiarity with routes, road conditions, and locations between Kamloops, Golden, and Banff.Vehicle Maintenance Knowledge:
Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance to identify issues during inspections and coordinate necessary repairs.Work Environment
Primarily on the road, driving long distances between Kamloops, Golden, and Banff.Exposure to varying weather and road conditions, including mountain terrain.Require sitting for extended periods while driving, with occasional physical activity such as loading and unloading items.Must be able to push, pull, lift and carry up to 50 pounds.Overnight stays are required for up to three nights per week.Shifts may include work during early morning, evenings, weekends, and holidays.Must be legally authorized to work in Canada for the duration of the operating season (April – mid-October).Perks and Benefits
