We are seeking a permanent, full‑time Transportation Technician I to join the City of Kamloops Transportation Division. The role is central to traffic operations, permits, and community transportation planning.
Position OverviewThis role assists in approving transportation permits, reviewing traffic control plans, oversize vehicle permits, and right‑of‑way usage permits. Other responsibilities include receiving and investigating inquiries and complaints, conducting speed studies and traffic counts, and providing data to support transportation engineering and planning decisions.
Hours & Days of WorkMonday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM. The position is eligible for a modified schedule after probation (one extra day off every third week).
CompensationHourly rate: $39.990 (2025).

Qualifications- Completion of a two‑year diploma in Engineering from a recognized technical institute.
- Minimum of 6 months’ experience in traffic or transportation technical engineering.
- Valid BC Driver’s Licence – Class 5.
- Ability to obtain Traffic Control Person (TCP) Certification within one year.
