Position Overview
The City of Kamloops is hiring a permanent, full‑time Transportation Technician II to assist with traffic permits, transportation studies, road system planning, traffic control systems, traffic calming, pedestrian safety installations, and related traffic software and AutoCAD applications. The role requires visual and mental concentration, occasional handling of high work volume and deadlines, and regular field data‑collection trips.
As a key member of the Transportation team, the Technician will support the city’s planning and community goals while benefiting from job security and a comprehensive benefits package.
Qualifications- Completion of a two‑year diploma in engineering from a recognized technical institute with emphasis on traffic and transportation.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in traffic, transportation, or civil engineering technology.
- Registered as an Applied Science Technologist (AScT) with the ASTTBC.
- Valid Class 5 BC driver’s licence.
- Eligibility to obtain Traffic Control Person (TCP) certification within one (1) year.
For new hires and those in positions of trust, a police information check is required before a formal offer is made. This is a CUPE local 900 position.
Hours & Days of WorkMonday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Eligible for a modified schedule (an extra day off every third week) once probation is complete.
Hourly Rate$47.94 (2025)
