Position Overview:
Are you a self‑starter who is motivated by providing services to the public? If so, the City of Kamloops’ Transportation Division is looking for someone to join their team as a permanent, full‑time Transportation Technician I. This position works with a dynamic team on traffic operations work within the community. This role assists in the approval of transportation permits, reviewing traffic control plans, oversize vehicle permits, and right‑of‑way usage permits.
Other tasks include receiving and investigating inquiries and complaints related to traffic/transportation matters, conducting speed studies and traffic counts to help make important transportation engineering and planning decisions. QualificationsFor new hires, and for those working in designated positions of trust, including those working directly with vulnerable persons, no formal offer of employment will be made until an applicant completes a police information check. A comprehensive benefits package is included with this position. This is a CUPE local 900 position.
Hourly Rate: $39.990 (2025)
Hours & Days of Work:
Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM. The position is eligible for a modified schedule (earn an extra day off every third week) once probation is complete.
Hours per Week: 35
