Overview
Road Foreman responsible for educating, promoting and monitoring protected work practices of operating crews within a defined territory. Ensure effective and efficient application of operating rules, safety policies and procedures to improve safety, prevent accidents, raise awareness, and promote compliance.
Responsibilities- Perform locomotive engineer train crew field evaluations
- Plan and execute remedial training for individuals found deficient through field evaluation and rules violations
- Coordinate and deliver/facilitate all conductor new hire training, including oversight of field level on-the-job training
- Coordinate and oversee triennial recertification training for conductors and locomotive engineers in the area of responsibility
- Perform field efficiency testing
- Provide input to training course content in identified problem areas observed in field evaluations and proficiency testing
- Deliver skills training for conductors and locomotive engineers in the area of responsibility
- Respond to and provide expert analysis of train handling exceptions, incidents and derailments; implement corrective training when required
- Availability as required 24/7
- High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
- Minimum of two years of experience as a qualified and practicing railway locomotive engineer or as required by regulations
- Strong working knowledge of railroad operating rules and regulations including special or dimensional handling, TIH, hours of work and locomotive standards
- Strong working knowledge of railway operations
- Maintained CROR rules qualification
- Working knowledge of the relevant Collective Agreement and its application to locomotive engineers and conductors
- Management/supervisory experience is an asset
- Effective communication skills and ability to relay instruction to conductors and locomotive engineers related to train handling and safety rules
- Strong facilitation skills
- Ability to coach, train and mentor train locomotive engineers, conductors and students

- Medical and Drug Testing:
This is a safety critical position requiring a pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test. Post-hire qualification drug testing may also be required. - Background Investigation:
Criminal history check, professional references, driver’s license verification and driving history
As an employee with North American presence, location of the position may change based on organizational requirements. Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is a key path for management employees to learn the business tification or maintenance of current certification/qualification may be required.
