Position Overview

The City of Kamloops is seeking a permanent, full‑time Transportation Technician II to assist with traffic permits, transportation studies, road system planning, traffic control systems, traffic calming, and traffic and pedestrian safety installations. The candidate will use traffic software, applications, and AutoCAD to support field data collection and analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and manage traffic permits and documentation.

Conduct traffic studies and develop transportation plans.

Design and implement traffic control and calming measures.

Use AutoCAD and traffic software to produce plans and reports.

Perform field data collection and report analysis.

Qualifications

Completion of a two‑year diploma in Engineering with an emphasis on traffic or transportation.

Minimum of three years’ experience in traffic, transportation, or civil engineering technology.

Registered as an Applied Science Technologist (AScT) with ASTTBC.

Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence.

Eligibility to obtain Traffic Control Person (TCP) certification within one year.

Hours & Days of Work

Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (modified schedule eligible after probation: extra day off every third week).
