Position: Public Works Equipment Operator I
Become an integral part of the City of Merritt team as an Equipment Operator I. This 14-month term position emphasizes safe operation of heavy equipment and effective service delivery.

As an Equipment Operator I in the Public Works department, you will play a crucial role in maintaining city roads, utilities, and recreational areas. Your expertise in operating large mobile equipment will support essential services while adhering to safety protocols. Team collaboration and a customer service approach are vital for success in this position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate various types of equipment for municipal services

• Perform routine maintenance on heavy machinery

• Ensure safe work practices are followed at all times

• Participate in team efforts to maintain city infrastructure

• Fulfill on-call duties as required by the department

Requirements:

• At least 6 months’ experience in a similar role

• BC Class 3 Driver’s Licence with air brake endorsement

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to follow safety standards rigorously

• Physical capability to manage job responsibilities
