The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:
1.0 SCOPEThis is a non-personnel services contract to provide a Music Worship leader which is required for contemporary Protestant worship services utilizing a Praise Band aboard Marine Corps Base-Hawaii (MCB-H), Kaneohe Bay. Worship leader shall perform the specific tasks in accordance with this Performance Work Statement.
2.0 CONTRACT OVERVIEWContemporary Protestant worship is ideally young adult centered, and requires a music style in keeping with the requirements for a Praise and Worship Service. The Music Worship leader’s role supports and blends the talents of volunteer musicians within a contemporary worship setting. The Worship leader shall perform these services at MCB-Hawaii Chapel, Kaneohe Bay in accordance with this PWS.
3.0 EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER SIGNIFICANT QUALIFICATIONS3.1 Ability to play a musical instrument, sing, and lead worship simultaneously.
3.1.1 Ability to play guitar and/or keyboard (other alternate instruments as approved by the Service Pastor).
3.1.2 Ability to perform accompaniment with multiple musicians.
3.2 Must be competent in public speaking, and must be able to prepare and lead congregational prayer and/or the sharing of extemporaneous scripture-based reflections and words of encouragement that enrich the worship experience and nurture the souls of the participants.
3.3 Have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience with a church and/or chapel program directing, leading, singing, and accompanying in a contemporary worship setting.
3.4 Understand and have ability to play and sing various forms of music that are appropriate for a contemporary worship service.
3.5 Demonstrate proficiency in the skills listed above. Work in conjunction with Service Pastor, pastoral team, and worship team to reflect current trends in contemporary worship.
3.6 Worship leader should have a basic understanding of military protocol and possess the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population.
3.7 Only citizens of the United States and Permanent Resident Aliens of the United States with a verified United States Permanent Resident Card (USCIS Form I-551) are eligible to perform work on this contract. All other Foreign Nationals are not eligible to perform work on this contract.
4.0 WORK ENVIRONMENT AND TASK CONSIDERATIONS4.1 SCOPE OF WORK / WORSHIP LEADER REQUIREMENTS: Serve as music worship leader at one Protestant Community Praise and Worship Service per week. Each religious service shall last approximately one hour. The Worship leader shall be on site at least 15 minutes prior and 15 minutes after each service at the MCBH Chapel located on Marine Corps Base (MCB) Hawaii. Worship leader Personnel shall perform the specific tasks in accordance with this Performance Work Statement.
4.2
SPECIFIC TASKS:
Serve as director of a weekly Praise Band rehearsal and the leader of the weekly Praise Band for the service. The rehearsal(s) shall be coordinated with the Government Designated Representative (DGR) or designee as to the time and location of services.
4.2.1 Select appropriate music to be performed each week in consultation with the DGR.
4.2.2 Recruit and train vocalists and instrumentalists from the congregation. Ideally, the Praise Band shall include at a minimum one guitar, one bass guitar, one drummer, one keyboardist and several singers.
4.2.3 Coordinate all logistical matters for worship through music to include sound checks, volunteers, and leading the music portion of worship.
4.2.4 Provide for a suitable substitute when unable to provide the services described in this contract and be responsible for the proper training of each substitute. The suitable substitute must meet the Government's minimum performance requirements. If the worship leader is unable to provide an adequate replacement then the Contracting Officer (KO) reserves the right to terminate the contract immediately.
