This is not a W-2 employment opportunity. Subcontractors operate as independent businesses and are responsible for their own insurance, taxes, and scheduling.

LOCATION: Oahu, Hawaii

Hilweh Builders LLC is a licensed general contractor in the State of Hawaii. We focus on high-quality residential remodeling, including kitchens, bathrooms, decks, stairs, lanais, millwork, and more. We are a family-owned business rooted in the local community. We're currently looking to grow our network of trusted subcontractors. This is not a position for employment, but an opportunity to contract independently on residential construction projects we facilitate.

SUMMARY: We are seeking experienced, detail-oriented Subcontractor Carpenters to assist with remodeling and carpentry tasks on a per-project basis. Subcontractors are hired for labor only; materials are typically procured and delivered by Hilweh Builders unless otherwise arranged. Subcontractors operate as independent businesses:

• You set your own availability and pricing
• You choose which jobs to accept
• No employment benefits or W2 status
• You must carry your own general liability insurance with minimum coverage limits to be agreed upon before any job begins

This opportunity is best suited for carpenters who want flexible, project-based work with a local GC that values quality, communication, and community reputation.

SCOPE OF WORK MAY INCLUDE: Depending on the project, subcontractor tasks may include:

• Framing, finish carpentry, trim, millwork
• Installing decks and railings (wood, composite, PVC, etc.)
• Demo and prep for remodels
• Installing cabinetry, doors, windows, stairs, and flooring
• Reading blueprints and executing scopes per site meetings
• Loading/unloading materials and tools as needed
• Maintaining safe and clean work areas
• Collaborating with general contractor or crew leads as required
• Providing your own tools, transportation, and labor team (if applicable)

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 3 years carpentry or residential construction experience
• Ability to complete work independently to high standards
• Excellent communication and professionalism with clients and team
• Reliable transportation
• Tools required to complete typical scopes of work
• Must have current General Liability Insurance (COI required)
• Business license or EIN is a plus but not required; we will issue a 1099-NEC at year end for paid work
• Willingness to complete and pass a background check if required
