Wheelchair Transport Driver – Kaneohe, HI

Hawaii Patient Transport (HPT) is seeking a Wheelchair Transport Driver to deliver compassionate and personalized customer service while providing safe and reliable transportation for veterans and clients in need of wheelchair-accessible transportation.

• Safe and Reliable Transportation:
  Operate a company-provided shuttle/sedan in a safe, courteous, and reliable manner, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations. Safely transport veterans who are disabled within the designated service area and according to the assigned time schedule.
• Vehicle Inspections:
  Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the vehicle is in proper working condition. Report any mechanical or maintenance issues promptly.
• Passenger Assistance:
  Assist passengers, including those using wheelchairs or other mobility aids, in boarding and alighting. Properly secure wheelchairs and scooters to ensure passenger safety during transit.
• Communication and Reporting:
  Maintain effective communication with dispatch to report deviations, accidents, passenger incidents, medical or behavioral concerns, or vehicle problems. Complete written reports accurately and promptly for passenger-related matters and accidents.
• Passenger Guidance:
  Provide necessary guidance and inform passengers about rules and regulations to ensure a safe and comfortable travel experience.
• Luggage Handling:
  Assist passengers with loading and stowing luggage, ensuring belongings are secured during transit.

• Lifting:
  Ability to lift up to 75 lbs from the floor.
• Pushing/Pulling:
  Capability to push/pull up to 80 lbs horizontally and at an incline.
• Hand Strength & Dexterity:
  Ability to exert up to 50 lbs of force with the hands.
• Climbing:
  Ability to climb steps.
• kneeling and reaching the floor:
  Ability to kneel and reach the floor. (If applicable, ensure clarity in phrasing.)
• Sitting:
  Prolonged periods of sitting (2 hours or more).

• Starting Wage:
  Competitive starting wage of $18.10/hr.

• Vehicle Storage:
  Ability to store a company-designated passenger van with the Navarre Corporation logo at your residence.
• Flexible Availability:
  Willingness to work various shift hours and assigned days to meet transportation needs.
• Background Check and Drug Screen:
  Successful completion of pre-employment background check with MVR and drug screen.
• Vehicle Housing:
  Ability to provide housing for a vehicle (preferably a commercial utility van) at your residence; vehicle should bear the company logo for brand visibility.
