Duane Dean Behavioral Health Center has provided substance use treatment, intervention and prevention services to adults who reside in Kankakee, Iroquois counties and throughout east-central Illinois. Working in collaboration with our management organization, Rincon Family Services, since 2017, we have expanded our services to include violence intervention, workforce development, mental health and welcome center services.
The Medical Director provides medical leadership, clinical oversight, and evidence-based care for individuals receiving substance use and behavioral health services. The Medical Director works collaboratively with participants, families’/support systems, providers, and the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective, person-centered, and trauma-informed care.

Areas of Accountability - What you will be doing:Program Compliance & Quality
- Ensure medical services comply with applicable federal, state, IDHS, SAMHSA, Medicaid, Medicare, CARF, and other regulatory and contractual requirements.
- Ensure all required agency and state training and documentation are completed within established timelines, including requirements applicable within the first 30 days of employment.
- Participate in quality assurance, clinical audits, accreditation activities, and corrective action initiatives.
- Support the development and implementation of clinical policies, protocols, and evidence-based practices.
- Participate in risk management, patient safety, critical incident reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based practices in addiction medicine, behavioral health, psychopharmacology, and integrated care.
- Maintain all required medical licenses, certifications, registrations, and credentials.
- Ensure physicians and other prescribing providers are appropriately credentialed and cleared to bill Medicaid, Medicare, and other applicable insurance programs.
- Maintain an individual National Provider Identifier (NPI) and provide required NPI and credentialing information for billing purposes.
- Provide and maintain all licenses, certifications, documentation, and other information required for Medicaid, Medicare, and third-party payer enrollment and billing.
- Collaborate with administrative and billing teams to support accurate and compliant medical billing.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Board certification in Addiction Medicine or Addiction Psychiatry.
- Experience in a nonprofit or community-based behavioral health organization.
- Experience with Medicaid, Medicare, IDHS, SAMHSA, CARF, or other behavioral health regulatory requirements.
- Experience with medication-assisted treatment/MOUD and treatment of co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
