Division Overview:

Position Overview:

The forklift operator works closely with the Plant Shipping Supervisor to ensure the packaging, handling, and shipment of a quality product that meets or exceeds customer expectations.

Duties And Responsibilities:

• Maintain activities of transporting product and equipment throughout the facility with a focus on optimizing Safety, Quality, Productivity and Spoilage.
• Operate and maintain forklifts safely.
• Communicate all pertinent information between departments and shifts on changes to equipment, production schedules, production problems or any other related information.
• Work with department warehousing, scheduling, process supplying, and product shipments.
• Assist and train new operators as needed.
• Apply skills and methods to improve plant production.
• Inspect products to ensure compliance with standards.
• Contribute to maintaining quality and recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimal efficiencies.
• Complete necessary documentation such as production sheets, pallet ticketing, scanning, and hazard reporting.
• Perform other job-related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications:

• 2-3 years of experience in a warehousing and high-speed manufacturing environment.
• Certified and at least three years of proven forklift experience.
• Must be available to work various shifts and be able to work nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.

Preferred Requirements:

• Beverage Packaging industry experience.
• Knowledge of AS400.
• Problem-solving skills through an individual and/or collaborative approach.
• Ability to work independently or with a team.
• Effective leadership skills such as conflict resolution, communication, and decision making.
• Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Computer skills and working knowledge of various Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Access, etc.).

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• May lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions:

• Generally works in a warehouse or plant environment.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts/product and vehicular traffic.
• Exposure to a wide range of temperatures.
• Production noise level is frequently loud.
