REGISTERED NURSE- MILLER (TR/PRN)
Riverside Healthcare is seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our acute care team in Kankakee, Illinois.
OverviewThis role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in a fast‑paced environment. The RN will provide high‑quality, compassionate care to patients undergoing various treatments, and will demonstrate flexibility within professional scope and licensure.
Essential Duties- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
- Administer medications, treatments, and procedures within scope and monitor patient responses.
- Continuously monitor patient vital signs and document observations promptly.
- Coordinate patient care with physicians and other healthcare professionals; participate in interdisciplinary meetings and discharge planning.
- Educate patients and families about medical conditions, treatments, medications, and post‑discharge care.
- Maintain accurate documentation that meets regulatory and hospital standards.
- Provide a supportive environment that promotes comfort, trust, and understanding for patients and families.
- Support a collaborative work environment; provide feedback and communicate openly with peers.
- Respond to medical emergencies with effective intervention and life‑saving procedures.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and reduce healthcare‑acquired infections.
- Complete required continuing education hours for acute stroke units and maintain hospital‑based certifications.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training.
- Assist in the orientation and training of new staff members and students.
- Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives, evidence‑based practice, and research.
- Minimum of two years of acute care nursing experience preferred.
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Illinois.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- For pediatric unit: PALS certification required within 1 year of hire.
- For intensive care unit: ACLS certification required within 1 year of hire.
- New Graduate RNs starting on or after 1/1/25 must earn a BSN within 3 years of start date.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.
- Professional nursing certification in area of specialty preferred.
- Basic ECG recognition skills preferred.
