Position: REGISTERED NURSE- RADIOLOGY (PT Days)

Overview

Riverside Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Diagnostic Imaging Registered Nurse (RN) to join our multidisciplinary Imaging teams in Kankakee and Bourbonnais, Illinois. This registered nurse is responsible for the administration of the total nursing care within the Imaging services departments according to established policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical and interpersonal skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently across a range of fast-paced modalities.

Additionally, this position requires flexibility with assignments within professional scope/duties/licensure with a commitment to excellence in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.

Shift Requirements
  • Main Campus: 7am-5:30pm
  • Bourbonnais Campus: 7am-6pm
  • Rotating Saturdays: 7am-3:30pm
  • Rotating Call
Essential Duties
  • Patient Assessment & Preparation:
    Conduct thorough assessments of patients prior to procedures, including reviewing medical history, diagnostic results, and current health status. Prepare patients for procedures, explaining the process, addressing concerns, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Assistance During Procedures:
    Assist in the Imaging departments (CT, MRI, NM/PETCT, US, Mammography) by supporting physicians, providers, and/or technologists, ensuring proper patient positioning, and maintaining a sterile field as required. Monitor patients throughout procedures, tracking vital signs, oxygen levels, and other critical parameters. Administration of prescribed medications during procedures.
  • Post-Procedure Monitoring & Care:
    Provide close monitoring of patients post-procedure, observing for complications, and implementing care protocols to manage pain, bleeding, or other potential issues. Administer medications, including pain management and anticoagulation therapies, as ordered, and educate patients and families on post-procedure care instructions.
  • Daily Coordination And Support Tasks:
    Obtain vascular access for imaging patients (including peripheral IV and port access). Respond to scheduling support needs to ensure timely delivery of services. Coordinate across multidisciplinary teams as required. Review patient preparation and follow up reports and communicate with patients and/or referring providers to coordinate pre and post instructions.

    Education:

    Educate patients and their families about the procedure, expected recovery, potential complications, and necessary lifestyle modifications or follow-up care.
  • Collaboration And Coordination Of Care:
    Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare team members to ensure patient safety and effective care coordination. Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and staff regarding care plans and changes in patient condition. Assist with coordinating patient transfers and discharge planning to ensure continuity of care. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and treatment adjustments.

    Must be available for on-call shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Documentation And Compliance:
    Maintain accurate documentation of patient assessments and interventions within the EHR, ensuring regulatory compliance. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to safety protocols to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Infection Control & Safety:
    Maintain a sterile environment, adhere to infection control protocols during all procedures. Ensure patient and staff safety through correct handling of equipment and materials, and by following established protocols for radiation exposure and other potential risks.
  • Emergency Response And Infection Control:
    Respond quickly and effectively to medical emergencies, performing life-saving procedures and stabilizing patients as required. Follow infection control protocols to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff. Assist with procedural setup and maintenance of a sterile environment.
  • Non-essential Duties:
    Participate in continuing education and training to stay up-to-date on best practices in interventional procedures and emerging technologies. Contribute to departmental meetings, quality assurance, and performance improvement initiatives. Support staff development by training and mentoring new hires or nursing students. Assist with inventory management and ensure that equipment is properly maintained and functioning.
Qualifications
  • Required Licensure/

    Education:

    Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Illinois. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred at time of hire or obtained prior to completing orientation. New Graduate RNs starting on or after 1/1/25 must earn BSN within 3 years of start date.
  • Preferred Education:

    BSN degree.
