Traveling Journeyman Electrician

$50 - $60 per hour | Springfield, IL | On-site | Permanent

We are a privately held specialty contractor with 35+ years of history and a crew-first culture. Our renewable energy division is our largest business, and the company has doubled their revenue year over year (on track for $1B). We build ground mount solar from distributed generation sites to utility-scale projects, with work running across Illinois and 35+ states. • Steady work:
  Projects run from 6-8 weeks on DG sites up to 18 months on utility-scale, with a deep pipeline behind them.

• Install photovoltaic (solar) electrical systems according to drawings and specifications
• Perform AC and DC terminations and wire management
• Interpret construction documents, wire schedules, and BOMs
• Apply current electrical codes and best practices on the job
• Complete material takeoffs and support tool and equipment procurement
• Mentor and support apprentices and crew members in the field
• Maintain project documentation, reports, and field records
• Work with foremen and project managers to meet safety and production goals
• Communicate effectively with crew, customers, and leadership

• Valid Journeyman Electrician license OR 8,000+ electrical working hours, verifiable with prior employers
• 5+ years of experience in solar or electrical construction
• Familiarity with PV systems and DC/AC configurations
• Strong understanding of electrical schematics and specifications
• Ability to travel 100% across the Midwest and beyond, with overnight stays required
• Reliable personal transportation to and from job sites
• Valid driver's license with a safe driving history
• Ability to pass a drug screen and background check
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs and work on your feet for long periods
• US work authorization; sponsorship is not available
