Field Engineer

Overview

Summit Design + Build is looking for a Field Engineer to support a commercial/multifamily project in North Carolina that is in its final stages. This is a project-based role focused heavily on field coordination, punchlist, and close-out activities. It’s a great opportunity for someone who wants hands-on site experience and to support a project through completion.

As a Field Engineer at Summit, you will:

• Provide on-site support to the Superintendent and project team during the final phase of construction.
• Assist with punchlist tracking, coordination, and close-out activities.
• Support field inspections, walkthroughs, and quality control efforts.
• Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure timely completion of remaining work.
• Help track field issues, RFIs, and minor scope adjustments as needed.
• Maintain daily field documentation and assist with project close-out deliverables.
• Be present in the field daily and support day-to-day jobsite needs.

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent field experience).
• 1–3 years of commercial construction experience (internships or field roles count).
• Strong interest in field operations and jobsite coordination.
• Comfortable working on-site and collaborating closely with superintendents and trades.
• Organized, reliable, and detail-oriented.
• Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction software is a plus.

• This role is project-based and tied to the completion of the current project.
• Ideal for someone looking to gain strong field experience and support a project through punchlist and close-out.
• For the right candidate who is open to travel, there may be an opportunity to transition into a full-time role after project completion.
