JobPurpose
As an Elementary Daily Substitute, you will enable students to pursue their education smoothly and completely in the absence of the regular teacher. You will implement lesson plans and maintain routines, ensuring continuity of learning.
How You Will Impact Education- Review the plan and schedule with the principal, supervisor, or designated teacher.
- Teach lessons prepared by the absent teacher.
- Report in writing the day's activities at the end of each day and provide additional feedback as requested.
- Follow all school and CSUSA policies, rules, and procedures applicable to regular teachers.
- Consult with the building principal or supervisor before initiating any lesson or procedure not specified in the teacher’s plan.
- Maintain the established routines and procedures of the school and assigned classrooms.
- Oversee pupil behavior during class and other times as requested.
- Maintain appropriate student behavior at all times throughout the school day.
- Maintain good relations with faculty and staff of the district.
- Treat information about students and staff with utmost confidence.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to the job and CSUSA’s mission, supporting company values in academic excellence, operational performance, superior culture, and financial health.
- Work and interact with staff and relate to individuals at all levels of the organization, being sensitive to corporate needs and public image.
- Time‑management skills: prioritizing, organizing, scheduling.
- Computer basics:
Windows (Word, Excel, Outlook). - Communication: oral (including presentations), written, interpersonal (active listening), and negotiating.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- Completion of the district’s Substitute Workshop (as required by the district).
- Commitment to company values.
- CSUSA may accept suitable alternatives to these requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Usual school working conditions.
- May be noisy during high student traffic.
- No physical exertion required.
- Somewhat stressful due to frequent student activity.
- Light work:
Exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects.
Non‑exempt from overtime provisions of the Federal Labor Standards Act.
