Assistant Mechanical Project Manager

West Kansas City Metro | Full-Time | $75,000-$90,000 Base

A commercial mechanical contractor in the West Kansas City Metro is adding an Assistant Project Manager as newly awarded construction projects move into execution. This is a good opportunity for someone early in their construction career who has gained some project experience and wants to continue developing on the project management side of commercial mechanical construction.

You'll work directly with Project Managers, superintendents, field teams, vendors, and other project partners while gaining exposure to projects from turnover through construction and closeout.

• Support commercial and industrial mechanical construction projects
• Manage RFIs, submittals, procurement logs, equipment tracking, and project documentation
• Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors on material and equipment needs
• Track equipment, material deliveries, and long-lead items
• Assist with project schedules and upcoming milestones
• Support change-order documentation and tracking
• Participate in project meetings and follow up on assigned action items
• Work closely with superintendents and field teams to help resolve project needs
• Assist with cost tracking, billing, forecasting, and other project financial processes
• Review drawings, specifications, and mechanical scopes
• Support commissioning, punch lists, closeout documentation, and project completion
• Take on increasing project responsibility as experience grows

• Approximately 1-3 years of relevant construction experience
• Experience as a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, Project Coordinator, or similar role is helpful
• Mechanical construction experience is preferred, but not required
• Basic understanding of construction drawings, project documentation, and field coordination
• Strong organization and follow-through
• Comfortable communicating with both field and office teams
• Interest in building a long-term career in project management

Candidates with experience in HVAC, plumbing, piping, sheet metal, electrical, MEP, general contracting, or other commercial construction environments are encouraged to apply.

A Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related degree is helpful, but relevant experience will also be considered.

The company has added several significant new construction projects to its backlog and is expanding its project management team ahead of the work.

This position is intended to provide increasing exposure to the technical, field, financial, and operational sides of mechanical construction
, with a path toward greater project ownership as you develop.

• $75,000-$90,000 base salary, depending on experience
