Senior construction executive responsible for the direction, people, decisions, and outcomes of the company’s construction operations. Reports directly to the Managing Partner and works alongside the Director of Business Operations as part of the company’s senior leadership structure.

The primary focus is leading the construction team and project portfolio
—ensuring projects are delivered successfully, problems are resolved quickly, teams are accountable, and the company’s construction operations continue to grow without depending on ownership for day-to-day decisions.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and develop project managers, superintendents, and field leadership.
  • Oversee the active project portfolio from planning and development through design, preconstruction, construction, closeout, and turnover
    .
  • Take ownership of escalated project issues and drive them to resolution.
  • Set expectations, priorities, and accountability across the construction team.
  • Make key decisions regarding subcontractors, contracts, change orders, project delivery, and risk.
  • Drive constructability, sequencing, value engineering, and delivery decisions.
  • Monitor overall project health and intervene when projects are trending off course.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, developers, clients, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and industry partners.
  • Support business development, proposals, strategic client relationships, and repeat business.
  • Help establish the systems, standards, and leadership structure needed for the company to scale.
  • Partner with the Director of Business Operations to create clear accountability between construction execution and business/process operations.
IDEAL BACKGROUND
  • Senior-level construction leadership experience with a commercial general contractor or design-build organization.
  • Proven experience delivering cradle-to-grave design-build projects—from initial planning and development through conceptualization, estimating, design, preconstruction, construction, closeout, and turnover.
  • Experience working with owners and developers early in the process to shape project planning, feasibility, scope, budget, schedule, and delivery strategy.
  • Proven experience managing project managers, superintendents, and multiple active projects.
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction, scheduling, contracts, subcontractors, change management, project financials, and risk.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems early, make decisions, and hold teams accountable.
  • Strong relationship builder with established relationships across owners, developers, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and industry partners.
  • Collaborative leadership style with the ability to bring owners, designers, subcontractors, and internal teams together around a common objective.
  • Collaborative communicator who can build trust with clients while providing clear direction internally.
  • Architectural/design experience is a plus
, particularly if it strengthens the candidate’s ability to operate within a true design-build environment.
  • Procore/construction reporting experience and Kansas City market relationships are a plus.
LEADERSHIP PROFILE

Looking for a strong construction leader first
—someone who can take ownership of the construction operation, lead people, make difficult decisions, solve problems, and consistently deliver projects.

The ideal candidate is a builder and relationship leader
: collaborative, commercially minded, highly accountable, and comfortable taking a project from the earliest stages of planning and development through design, construction, and turnover.

Architectural/design experience is desirable but not the central requirement
. What matters most is deep construction knowledge, proven design-build experience, leadership ability, and the relationships and credibility to bring owners, developers, designers, subcontractors, and internal teams together.
