Overview

The University of Kansas Health System, Department of Neurology, is seeking a neurohospitalist to join its dynamic team and support the departmental mission of delivering the highest quality of care. Candidates fresh out of training as well as experienced candidates are welcome to apply.

In this role, candidates will diagnose, treat, and manage neurology patients in an inpatient setting. They provide care and consultative services for acute neurological disorders. Schedules are structured with a "7 days on/7 days off" model with the option for additional shifts per month or outpatient clinic for additional compensation. Candidates may be involved with clinical teaching and research if desired.

Responsibilities also include duties assigned by the Department Chair or that are otherwise typically expected of a physician in the department.

Job Duties
  • Provide care for neurology patients in the inpatient setting.
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage these patients in the hospital and on call.
  • Participate in on-call coverage.
  • Educate medical students, residents, and fellows in patient care settings in formal and informal group education formats.
  • Minimally participate in scholarly activity derived from clinical activities.

Required Qualifications

Education: MD/DO

This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements, institutional standards of academic and professional excellence, alignment with peer institution benchmarks, and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community.

Licensure or

Certifications:

  • Eligible for licensure in Kansas
  • Board-Eligible or Certified in Neurology

Compensation, Benefits and Additional Information

Comprehensive Benefits Package: Coverage begins on day one for health, dental, and vision insurance and includes health expense accounts with generous employer contributions if the employee participates in a qualifying health plan. Paid time off, including vacation and sick, begins accruing upon hire, plus ten paid holidays.

One paid discretionary day is available after six months of employment, and paid time off for bereavement, jury duty, military service, and parental leave is available after 12 months of employment. A retirement program with a generous employer contribution and additional voluntary retirement programs (457 or 403b) are available.
