Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m.

- 5:00 p.m. Job may require additional hours with short notice. Evening and weekend availability, responding to emission alarms or plant issues via phone or email is expected.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for supporting air quality compliance for assigned generating station locations. This involves obtaining a deep understanding of permit requirements applicable to assigned sites and the forethought to address potential concerns before they become issues.
  • Responsible for overall health of the continuous emissions monitoring data and associated reporting of the data to the appropriate regulatory agencies.
  • Annual criteria pollutant and greenhouse gas inventory preparation and submittal.
  • Responsible for ensuring that construction and operating permit applications are timely submitted and permits obtained. This process requires a thorough understanding of the regulations applicable to the electric utility industry to ensure that the agency's proposed permit terms/conditions accurately portray the applicable regulatory requirements.
  • In collaboration with plant environmental compliance coordinator, ensure that all monitoring, recordkeeping and reporting is completed as specified in our permits.
  • Ability to collaborate with both internal and external partners.
Education and Experience
  • The preferred candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in sciences, engineering or related technical field from an ABET accredited program.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least five years of relevant experience dealing with air quality regulations, preferably those regulations directly related to electrical generating power plants.
  • Experience in developing annual emissions inventories, Title V compliance reports, continuous emissions monitoring data/reporting and applying for and obtaining construction and operating permits is also desired. Entry level candidates will be considered.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Self-starter with the ability to think for themselves. Ability to understand that the end goal is compliance with the regulatory requirements. Anticipate potential compliance hurdles and work to overcome them with appropriate stakeholders before they result in non-compliance.
  • Must have advanced problem-solving skills. This includes the ability to research technical and complex regulatory issues and analyze the impacts of the findings as it relates to Evergy operations.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to listen and gather information. Speak to convey very complex regulatory information to internal and external stakeholders. Ability to review complex technical permits and reports, understand the impacts of the requirements as written and provide constructive feedback as needed.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills.
  • Possess working knowledge of State and Federal air quality regulations and the ability to interpret applicable compliance requirements.
  • Ability to perform emission calculations.
  • Working knowledge of the construction and operating permit requirements as applicable in Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma.
  • Ability to multi-task, keeping numerous projects/initiatives moving forward at the same time.
Working Conditions

Normal office working conditions with some periodic travel to the plants.
