Position Overview

The Electrical Estimator is responsible for material takeoffs, cost analysis, preparation, and presentation of discipline estimates for large and complex projects. The position also involves maintaining historical databases while assisting in the development of department procedures. Target markets include Nuclear, DOE, and DOD contracts.

Responsibilities
  • Review RFPs to determine scope of work and estimate requirements.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and related documents.
  • Develop estimates to support proposal creation and bid submission, especially complex pricing sheets.
  • Determine labor, material, construction equipment, subcontractor, and other direct costs for self‑performed construction.
  • Analyze crew structures for composite rate development in union, merit‑shop, and prevailing wage labor markets.
  • Become a subject‑matter expert with InEight Estimating software.
  • Align bid packages to proposal requirements before issuing to subcontractors and vendors.
  • Evaluate Quote Comparison Sheets after receiving subcontractor and vendor pricing.
  • Be involved with the construction execution plan; upon award, the estimate serves as the actual construction plan.
  • Assist the Lead Estimator in identifying and mitigating risk and performing cost analysis.
  • Participate in the estimate review process with internal and external team members.
  • Assist with customer presentation preparation, if necessary.
  • Determine project successes and improvement areas by analyzing past cost data from ongoing and completed projects.
  • Assist with project initiation post‑award by refining the estimate while coordinating with business, project controls, and production teams.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with emphasis in electrical engineering or construction (preferred).
  • Strong work ethic and interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in standard office computer software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, InEight Estimate, and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Results‑oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • 3–5+ years of electrical engineering or construction experience.

Base Compensation: $95,000 – $99,000 per year (actual compensation may vary based on education, experience, skillset, and/or location).
