Job OverviewThe Assistant Supervisor is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Shipping department. This role ensures that materials are received, stored, and shipped accurately and efficiently while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and team performance. The Assistant Supervisor coordinates team activities, assists with training, and serves as a key resource for troubleshooting issues and balancing workloads. This position plays a critical role in maintaining workflow, supporting continuous improvement, and fostering a positive and productive team environment.
Highlightsof your role
- Understand and support all receiving and shipping processes, including documentation, labeling, and material flow.
- Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures and shipping/receiving requirements.
- Operate and troubleshoot material handling equipment.
- Ensure team members are trained and certified on equipment use.
- Monitor accuracy of inbound and outbound shipments.
- Ensure proper documentation and labeling of materials.
- Support resolution of quality issues related to shipping or receiving.
- Promote and enforce safety protocols and PPE compliance.
- Participate in safety audits and lead by example in safe practices.
- Communicate shift expectations, updates, and performance feedback to team members.
- Serve as a liaison between team members and leadership.
- Support team rotation and workload balancing across both departments.
- Foster a collaborative and respectful work environment.
- Identify and elevate operational issues or improvement opportunities.
- Take proactive steps to maintain workflow and minimize downtime.
- Assist in onboarding and training new team members.
- Reinforce standard operating procedures and best practices.
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors aligned with Marvin’s values.
- Troubleshoot day-to-day issues related to receiving, shipping, staffing, or equipment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve challenges.
- Promote a culture of safety and integrity by consistently following all safety protocols, reporting hazards, and engaging in training and initiatives.
- 1–2 years of professional experience, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Prior experience in leadership or team lead role is preferred.
- Training in safety and quality systems (e.g., OSHA basics, Lean principles).
- Knowledge of leadership development or coaching practices.
- Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize daily responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in logistics and equipment operations
- Ability to lead and coach team members effectively
