Job Duties- Removal and prevention of nuisance wildlife from man‑made structures and surrounding areas, including inspections, setting traps, capturing animals, euthanizing when necessary, and installing preventive materials.
- Daily activities: set up service route, communicate with customers, sell services, complete service work, and check in at the office.
- Operate a motor vehicle – must possess a valid Illinois driver’s license.
- Previous wildlife technician experience preferred.
- Pass the IDNR state certification exam (80%) for nuisance wildlife control.
- Enter and exit structures, crawl spaces, attics; climb over and on top of structures; ascend and descend stairs/ladders; walk on roofs, and wade in water.
- Read, write reports, and comprehend pesticide labels and training materials printed in English.
- Utilize OSHA‑mandated personal protective equipment.
- Visually inspect for wildlife activity in, on, and around structures, determine species present, identify active and potential points of entry, and install preventive solutions.
- Use basic tools and inspection equipment, including a power drill, hammer, staple gun, screwdriver, pry bar, mirror, flashlight, saw, tin snips, wire cutters, pliers, and socket set.
- Tolerate a variety of environmental conditions, seasonal weather, damp, dusty, and poorly lit areas.
- Lift, carry by hand, and extend ladders up to 40 feet in height (approximately 75 pounds) multiple times each day; lift traps containing animals (weighing about 30 lbs) multiple times each day; and lift own body weight to access attics and some rooftops.
- Clearly communicate service and sales information to customers multiple times each day.
- Capture animals using traps, capture poles, nets, or by hand.
