**** JOB SUMMARY
**** Job Profile Summary
** This position will work in a petroleum product quality control lab located in Kansas City, KS. The laboratory technician performs product testing and analyses of product samples according to standard testing procedures. Position requires familiarity with all aspects of the laboratory and works independently on programs and special projects. Requires an understanding of the need for the program and how the data resulting from the program affects decision-making.

This position maintains the laboratory in proper order by supporting and participating in ongoing laboratory improvement initiatives, projects, training, maintenance, cleaning, and calibration programs. Position involves a flexible work schedule which can include weekends and evenings.
** Essential Functions and Responsibilities
*** Analyzes product samples (includes analysis, specification comparison, and reporting)
* Produces timely, accurate program and project reports to internal and external customers
* Aids in continual laboratory process refinement and improvements
* Performs laboratory housekeeping, equipment maintenance, and other work as required
* Maintains program through interactions with program administrators
** Education
* ** Bachelor's Degree physical science or chemistry
* Two years of experience and has demonstrated a comprehensive understanding of product specifications, test procedures, test significance, and the value the larger organization derives from lab-generated analytical data.

** Strength Factor Rating - Physical Demands/Requirements
*** Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree;

or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.

NOTE:

The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.
