Overview

Postdoctoral Fellow Kharel lab - Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
Department: SOM KC Biochemistry. Research focus: RNA biology in human neurological disorders with emphasis on G-quadruplex biology from biological and therapeutic perspectives. Applied methods include biochemical, biophysical, molecular, cellular, and bioinformatics approaches. Collaboration with structural biologists is possible.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct research, record data, analyze data, and interpret experimental results.
  • Read literature, develop new ideas, and integrate information into project design and interpretation.
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Present research findings at conferences and scientific meetings.
  • Collaborate with lab members, including graduate students and technicians, to achieve research objectives and contribute to a collaborative environment.
  • Submit fellowship applications, as eligible, to support research funding and CV building.
Required Qualifications

Education: PhD or equivalent terminal degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in biophysical tools such as circular dichroism and microscale thermophoresis.
  • Practical experience in RNA and/or protein biochemistry, including expression and purification of recombinant proteins and functional analysis of proteins and RNA-protein complexes.
  • Experience in investigating aspects of eukaryotic translation and associated quality control processes.
  • High-throughput data analysis (RNA-seq/Proteomics).
  • Experience with cutting-edge techniques in RNA biology, protein biochemistry, neuromuscular biology, and cell biology.
  • Experience working with mouse models of neuro/muscular disorders.
Skills
  • Excellent critical thinking, scholarly and communication skills.
