Summary

The Plumber shall be responsible for the maintenance, upkeep, and general operation of all the plumbing systems.

Position Description
  • Ability to maintain all Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) plumbing systems to include hot and cold-water systems, gas, sewer lines, roof, and storm drains.
  • Inspect all existing systems for proper operations and make repairs to sinks, stools, urinals, water fountains, ice machines floor drains, etc., as needed.
  • Maintain an inventory of tools and spare parts.
  • Plan jobs with cost estimates, order materials after reviewing with the Assistant Director of Facility Services.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use and operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment found in large facilities.
  • Must be on call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Utilization of intermediate remodel, new construction, and large-scale residential maintenance skills.
  • Ability to perform routine preventative maintenance.
  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate a commitment to and ability to work with student and faculty population.
  • High energy, self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships and establish credibility with all levels of employee in the organization.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage several projects with multiple deadlines simultaneously.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent with trade school training in related area.
  • Master Plumber's license or five years’ experience in a large physical plant.
  • Must have and maintain a current valid driver's license and a clear motor vehicle record.
  • Ability to plan jobs with cost estimates.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Knowledge of and ability to work with all tools related to the plumbing field, i.e., pipe threader, pipe cutter, acetylene torch, concrete saw, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with copper, PVC, PEC, iron pipe and glass.
  • Experience in an educational and/or community or two-year college setting.
Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, talk, hear, walk, and sit. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift items.

  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
  • Significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.
WORK SCHEDULE

Monday through Friday 6:00 A.M. – 2:30 P.M. Must be able to work a variable schedule/hours to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours.
