A leading technology integration company is seeking a Lead AV Installation Technician and Foreman for the Kansas City / Olathe area. This is a hands-on field leadership role focused on commercial AV installation while directing a crew of two to six technicians. The position works closely with Project Management, general contractors, and other trade partners to keep projects on schedule and maintain installation quality and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and work alongside a crew of two to six technicians.
  • Assign tasks, explain installation requirements, verify completed work, and mentor less experienced technicians.
  • Review contract scope, construction plans, specifications, cable schedules, rack elevations, and installation details.
  • Plan daily work around project milestones, labor availability, materials, site access, and other trades.
  • Coordinate pathways, rough-in, backing, device locations, ceiling access, power, and network readiness with other trade partners.
  • Attend field coordination meetings and communicate installation dependencies, conflicts, and site conditions.
  • Perform and oversee cable installation, termination, labeling, rack assembly, equipment mounting, and device installation.
  • Inspect workmanship and verify equipment locations, connections, labeling, and physical completeness.
  • Resolve installation deficiencies and manage assigned punch list work.
  • Track crew hours, installed quantities, progress, and project obstacles.
  • Submit accurate daily reports and communicate productivity concerns, delays, rework, and potential added costs.
  • Identify work outside approved scope and coordinate with the Project Manager before proceeding.
  • Lead safe work practices and maintain orderly work areas.
  • Protect and account for project equipment, materials, and tools.
  • Coordinate deliveries and storage and report shortages or damage.
  • Work directly with customers and internal teams on network deployments and technical solutions
Required Skills
  • Five or more years of commercial AV installation or closely related low-voltage experience.
  • At least two years of experience as a foreman or lead technician directing field crews.
  • Experience leading crews of two to six people on large commercial construction projects.
  • Experience working across multiple trades, phased installations, and coordinated project schedul

    Ability to interpret construction drawings, technical specifications, system diagrams, cable schedules, and project schedules.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of cable routing, support, terminations, labeling, rack layout, equipment mounting, and installation sequencing.
  • Experience installing displays, projectors, speakers, microphones, AV control devices, conferencing systems, and digital video switching and distribution equipment.
