Big Lakes County invites applications for the position of FCSS Community Outreach Worker. We are seeking a dedicated, organized individual to support residents of Big Lakes County and the Town of High Prairie through community programs and services.

Responsibilities
  • Assist residents with government forms and applications.
  • Provide resource and referral information.
  • Connect individuals with appropriate agencies and community supports.
  • Promote FCSS programs and events.
  • Advocate on behalf of residents in their interactions with various government departments.
  • Coordinate FCSS services and programs across the service area.
  • Promote positive public relations for Big Lakes County’s Family and Community Support Services.
  • Organize and facilitate meetings, community events, focus groups, and conferences, including:
    • Volunteer Appreciation Nights
    • Seniors Week
    • Family Day
    • Community Volunteer Income Tax Program
    • County Barbecue
    • Christmas Angels Hamper Program
    • Red Silhouette Program
  • Implement, monitor, and evaluate existing and new FCSS initiatives.
  • Ensure all programs meet provincial FCSS preventative social service criteria.
  • Provide residents with information on local, municipal, provincial, and federal resources.
  • Offer referrals and assistance in accessing appropriate services and supports.
  • Network and collaborate with other agencies to connect residents to services.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and privacy in all client interactions.
  • Complete Registration & Inquiry (R&I) and Emergency Social Services (ESS) training.
  • Assist in evacuation centers during emergencies as required.
  • Maintain accurate records and submit monthly reports.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education & Experience
  • Grade 12 diploma (required).
  • Post‑secondary training or certification in a related field is considered an asset.
  • FOIPP training is an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Current Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector).
  • Current 5‑year Driver’s Abstract.
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Self‑motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Compensation

Big Lakes County offers a competitive salary, along with an excellent benefits and pension package.

Hours of Work

Monday to Friday, 8:15 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
