MRIGlobal is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our procurement department as a Subcontracts Specialist. The role can be performed on‑site (at our headquarters in Kansas City, MO), in a hybrid capacity, or fully remote. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic procurement team supporting all three of our business units, managing full‑lifecycle procurements for high‑value purchase orders and subcontracts.

As MRIGlobal is a government contractor, the ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in federal regulations, including the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS).

Principal Accountabilities and Success Factors

The Subcontracts Specialist will play a key role in sourcing, negotiating, and managing the acquisition of complex products and services in support of projects operating under strict government compliance requirements, including the FAR and DFARS, as applicable. Successful candidates will demonstrate knowledge of the FAR, experience with negotiation, contract administration and strategic sourcing of vendors and subcontractors.

Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
  • Manage full‑lifecycle procurement for high‑value and complex subcontracts. Select the appropriate subcontract type, draft, review, execute, and renew subcontracts, agreements, task orders, and modifications while ensuring compliance with applicable federal regulations such as the FAR, DFARS, and other agency‑specific requirements. Issue CPSR‑compliant subcontracts for government funded projects.
  • Identify and qualify suppliers capable of supporting government and commercial requirements through market research for products and services. Review and advise on specifications and statements of work. Develop and manage Requests for Information (RFI) and Requests for Proposal (RFPs) for competitive and sole‑source solicitations. Support and develop evaluation criterion, the down‑selection and award of decisions. Evaluate supplier responses for compliance and provide award recommendations.
  • Analyze supplier proposals and conduct cost/price analyses. Negotiate terms and conditions, flow‑down clauses, payment terms, and delivery schedules. Maintain an organized electronic subcontract repository and keep key stakeholders informed of milestones and upcoming renewals. Administer contracts, monitor performance, process modifications, and ensure timely closeouts. Maintain quality and price standards for products and services purchased. Expedite delivery, billing and receiving documentation. Drive cost‑saving and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support internal and external audits, reporting, and compliance reviews (e.g., CPSR, DCMA, and DCAA). Conduct supplier assessments and lead supplier improvement plans as needed. Assist in audits and review Procurement documentation.
  • Collaborate with program management, contracts, accounting/finance, legal, and quality assurance to provide technical, regulatory, and compliance support that aligns subcontract strategy with meeting program goals.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Supply Chain Management, Finance, Business).
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in subcontracts administration or procurement, specifically in support of federally funded customer contracts.
  • Experience with U.S. Government contracting procurement regulations (FAR, DFARS).
