AV Technical Assistant - Part-time at UMKC Information Services

Position: Part-Time

The part-time AV Install Service Assistant will support multiple academic units by providing technical support for all associated classes, meetings and events. They will complete and support AV hardware implementations and will work closely with UMKC academic units and UMKC's Information Services team to ensure all support needs are met.

Successful applicants will be organized, detail-oriented individuals who can remain calm and problem solve in fast-paced situations. This individual will be expected to provide exceptional customer service to our faculty, staff, students, and community. Work performed is often time sensitive, therefore prioritization skills are very important. Duties include but are not limited to:

• Inspect classroom audiovisual equipment regularly and perform preventative maintenance to ensure system functionality.
• Troubleshoot, repair, maintain and adjust audiovisual equipment including projectors, document cameras, microphones, public address systems and speakers.
• Instruct Students, Faculty, Staff and the public on the safe and proper use of AV equipment.
• Assist in repairs completed by internal technicians.
• Participate in projects that are not necessarily in job parameters (i.e. video production, lectern computer maintenance, etc.)
• Assist faculty, staff, and students on the use of audiovisual equipment and systems.
• Assist in AV equipment inventory management.
• Other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One year of related work experience including experience with projection, sound engineering, live event support (audiovisual), control systems and related audiovisual technologies
• Knowledge of the principles of electronics, ability to make repairs on audiovisual equipment, and operate equipment
• Ability to operate and instruct others in the operation of audiovisual equipment
• Superior non‑verbal, oral, and written communication skills
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Experience with Zoom and Microsoft Teams
• Good organizational/prioritization skills
• Ability to explain complex information and technologies in simple terms

• Some college coursework
• Previous experience with AV equipment and systems

$15.00 per hour.
