Head Boys Soccer Coach (Paseo High School)

Purpose of JobProvide instruction, leadership and supervision to school students participating in the sports program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct practices emphasizing teamwork, skill development, learning rules and strategies, and student‑athlete improvement.
- Engage in academic monitoring with teachers, counselors, and other academic support staff. Ensure student‑athletes attend required study hall.
- Supervise student‑athletes before, during, and after practices and contests, including in locker rooms, on buses, and at all other times. Arrive on time and remain until all student‑athletes have left.
- Maintain constant care of equipment and inventory. Inspect all athletic equipment and facilities and submit documentation to the Athletic Director/Principal.
- Conduct team and self in an ethical manner during practices and contests, exemplifying the highest standards of sportsmanship.
- Complete required paperwork: rosters, physicals, insurance forms, and parent consent forms.
- Work with the Principal to provide a solid program.
- Continue professional growth through clinics and professional publications.
- Assume responsibility for all aspects of the program: player development, fundraising, internal and external promotion of the sport and its needs, supervision of an effective assistant coach, and promotion of student athlete accomplishments academically and athletically.
- Must possess a four‑year college degree and be contracted by the KCMSD Board of Education for the school year as a full‑ or part‑time teacher or have 1–3 years of coaching experience.
- Knowledge of particular sport (philosophy & coaching).
- Successfully complete the MSHSAA/NFHS Coaching Principles Course and Sports First Aid Courses.
- Strong commitment to the student‑athlete concept and working knowledge of all collegiate eligibility regulations.
- Employed as a teacher or administrator in the school in which the candidate applies for a coaching position.
Employee must be able to sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, use hands and fingers, reach, bend, stoop, and lift objects of at least 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made.
