Job Description

The intent of this posting is to identify a pool of Adjunct Instructors who are qualified to deliver undergraduate and graduate level courses in the English Department. This is a part‑time, non‑benefit eligible unranked academic position. Appointment period is for the semester with consideration for reappointment. Hours, days and whether online or in‑person will vary depending on the opportunity. The Adjunct Instructor appointment is for courses taught in‑person on the UMKC Volker Campus or online.

For those courses taught online, a certification is required through the University.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess a terminal degree or equivalent level of professional experience, a strong record of professional experience in areas specific to the topic, and the ability to design and deliver a course to meet student learning outcomes.

Appointment Information

The appointment period is semester‑long with potential for renewal. Courses may be delivered in‑person at the UMKC Volker Campus or online (certification required).

Other Information

If appointed as an in‑person Adjunct Instructor, it is expected the course be taught in‑person for the duration of the semester and cannot be altered to become hybrid without approval from the English Department Chair.
