Postdoctoral Researcher - Energy, Matter and Systems, UMKC School of Science and Engineering

Overview

The Research Laboratory of Dr. Zhu Li is seeking a full-time postdoctoral researcher. The position focuses on research and algorithm development in learning-based compression and immersive media compression, especially point cloud and Gaussian splatting-based 3D content coding. The role includes assisting in teaching and developing research grants, and publishing research results.

A good publication record and system development experience is a plus for this position. This is a 9-month, full-time, unranked, benefit-eligible academic position.

• Conduct cutting-edge research and algorithm development in learning-based compression and immersive media compression, with emphasis on point cloud and Gaussian splatting-based 3D content coding.
• Assist in teaching and contribute to developing research grants; publish research results.

• PhD in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related area, with a good publication record and system development experience.
• Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity with MPEG standardization research processes; solid Python, MATLAB and/or C/C++ programming and deep learning tools.
