St. Peter Catholic School, in the Brookside neighborhood of Kansas City, MO, is seeking a Technology Instructor. The ideal candidate provides engaging, age-appropriate technology instruction that develops students' digital literacy, problem-solving, creativity, computational thinking, and responsible use of technology. This position is part-time, based on a 25-hour workweek, and reports to the principal.
Essential Duties- Plan and teach technology classes for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade.
- Develop and maintain a sequential K-8 technology curriculum with clearly defined skills and learning outcomes for each grade level.
- Provide age-appropriate instruction in keyboarding, computer skills, file management, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, digital research, multimedia, coding, and other technology applications.
- Develop hands-on projects that encourage creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
- Establish grade-level technology competencies and benchmarks.
- Evaluate and update curriculum as technology and educational needs evolve. Plan and teach technology classes for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade.
- Instruct students in the use of computer hardware and periphery
- Instruct students in the use of computer software, including word processors, spreadsheets, etc.
- Responsible for computer lab schedule
- Responsible for maintenance supervision of technology hardware
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills- Must have applicable knowledge in Information Technology
- Strong instructional skills and familiarity with current best practices in education
- Ability to manage a classroom effectively and create a positive learning environment
- Proficient in communication, collaboration, and use of technology in the classroom
- Must be able to lift up 25 pounds unaided
- Bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field is preferred
- Complete and maintain diocesan safe environment expectations
