Summary
Mechanical Engineer II – QA Engineer role at Kansas City National Security Campus, Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies. Responsible for performing and analyzing routine to moderately complex engineering functions, including quality control design, specifications, and manufacturing/measurement processes. Focus on product quality, cost‑effective manufacturing, and reliable processes for NNSA national security products.
Duties and Responsibilities- Assist in design and/or project or process management of products, programs, components, tools, and acceptance equipment under technical guidance.
- Develop manufacturing and/or measurement methods for tooling, gages, acceptance equipment, and processing procedures.
- Define and acquire equipment necessary to manufacture or inspect parts to assure product quality.
- Create test procedures and perform routine to moderately complex engineering evaluation tests, product and process capability studies, quality audits, data reviews, and other engineering evaluation work to assure product manufacturability.
- Interact with partners, customers, suppliers, and internal organizations to resolve design, development, production, and acceptance issues.
- Prepare evaluation reports, analyze discrepancies, and recommend and initiate improvements for product, test equipment, procedures, and manufacturing or operating processes that improve productivity and quality and reduce flow‑time.
- Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET‑accredited program in Engineering or Physics.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in engineering, analytical, or related technical activities.
- United States citizenship.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy security clearance (DOE).
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
- Capacity to work remote, hybrid, or on‑site as directed by management.
- Reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.
- Prior welding or machining experience (e.g., forging, electron beam, inspection) is a plus.
- Application of design, development, evaluation, and quality control techniques to routine engineering projects.
- Analysis of engineering designs and specifications to achieve efficient and reliable manufacturing or acceptance processes.
- Documentation of improvements and innovations in approved processes.
- Experience with test equipment drawings and processes.
- Experience with inventory management is a plus.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Word).
- Ability to identify, analyze, and recommend resolution of project‑related problems.
- Knowledge of commercial or governmental budgetary processes and guidelines.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to build strong relationships with internal and external customers.
- Detail oriented with professional presence, problem‑solving and decision‑making judgment.
