New Horizons Enterprises, LLC is seeking a full-time Environmental Scientist in Kansas City, MO, with at least five years of industry experience. Responsibilities include field sampling, data collection, project management, technical report writing, and client interaction. Candidates should have experience with Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and strong organizational skills. A Bachelor's degree in a related field is required, along with a valid driver's license.
Travel to out-of-town jobs is necessary.
New Horizons Enterprises, LLC, a small business with a branch in Lincoln and headquarters in Kansas City, is looking for a full-time Environmental Scientist with at least five years’ experience in the industry or related field to help grow our Kansas City division. New Horizons is a demolition and environmental consulting and remediation company. This position entails field sampling, data collection, field equipment operation, site assessment activities, and technical report writing.
Travel to out-of-town jobs is required but overnight trips will be limited. Experience with Phase I Environmental Site Assessments is preferred.
- Field surveys, inspections, sampling, and assistance with drilling
- Manage projects from inception to completion, including preparing project scope and budget estimates, job requisitions, work orders, reports and other documents, maintaining records, and revising drawings and procedures
- Perform QA/QC, prepare work plans and write effective technical reports; good verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in manipulating and analyzing data in multiple sources and formats
- Marketing and pursuing business development opportunities, including proposal writing, cost estimating, presentations, and active participation in conferences and organizations.
- Effective client interaction skills to develop and retain existing clients
- Must be capable of working independently with strong time management and organizational skills and also excel in a team environment
- Must be detail oriented with demonstrated commitment to accuracy and quality
- Must be a self-starter with leadership qualities; capable of reviewing, interpreting, and following plans and providing direction to internal team and subcontractors
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, including some administrative tasks.
- Coaches, mentors, and directs project team and others.
- PE, RG, ACM inspector licenses a plus
- Data management and report preparation for Phase I and II ESAs, remediation, asbestos hazard evaluation, lead-based paint and/or mold survey, and/or underground storage tank closures and assessments
- The ability to understand and apply government regulations related to hazardous materials and wastes is essential.
- Working knowledge of various computer software to prepare reports, presentations, and to conduct statistical and risk analyses. Experience in using GIS and handheld GPS for field survey and presentation of data is a plus.
- Ability to successfully multi-task
- Proficiency in Word and Excel
- Must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and personal vehicle
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certification preferred.

Required Education- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or other related field
- At least five years’ experience with an emphasis performing Phase I, II, and III ESAs, remediation, asbestos hazard evaluation, lead-based paint and/or mold survey, and/or underground storage tank closures and assessments.
- Experience directing soil borings, monitoring well installations, and performing soil and groundwater sampling is desirable.
