SummaryThis Engineering Technician role supports programs within the Global Security (GS) organization, focusing on the Testing domain. The position involves intermediate to complex technical activities, including gathering data, conducting tests and experiments, building prototype units, operating equipment, maintaining standards, and devising new testing methods. The role requires advanced knowledge of engineering concepts, processes, and tools to complete and ensure compliance of project subtasks.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Develop prototypes, test new products, instruments, and unique equipment to meet customer order requirements.
- Analyze design requirements and test results; recommend and initiate design improvements.
- Perform technical evaluations of in‑process, acceptance, and inspection equipment; program equipment for simulations; provide mechanical support, testing, and operation of special equipment in the field.
- Provide both bench and field setup, deployment, retrieval, and repairs with travel to remote sites as required.
- Install and integrate instruments into complex systems; participate in system‑wide testing and debugging.
- Compile cost estimates and delivery quotations; monitor performance; prepare reports, statistics, and recommendations for management review.
- Plan and conduct testing and development; use scientific methods to resolve technical problems.
- Determine product and material acceptability with design agency, quality, and other stakeholders.
- Develop intelligent electronic schematics on CAD systems; incorporate designs into PCBs; perform moderate to complex technical assignments requiring significant data gathering, analysis, and systems integration.
- Perform other technical duties as required in support of management and engineering activities.
- Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field and 2 years of relevant experience OR 6 or more years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- Ability to provide technical guidance and project leadership.
- Some positions may require unique expertise.
- Readiness to travel as business needs dictate.
- Readiness to work remote, hybrid, or on‑site as directed.
- Regular and reliable attendance required.
- United States citizenship.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations).
- Advanced development, evaluation, and quality control techniques for complex technical projects.
- Independent work under minimal supervision; latitude for decision‑making.
- Strong knowledge of analog and digital circuits and components.
- Troubleshooting, identification, and repair of electronic equipment at the component level.
- Experience with mechanical tools, DC power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and function generators.
- Ability to read circuit schematics, mechanical drawings, and manufacturer literature.
- Quality control and documentation proficiency.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Independent and collaborative work ability.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
