About the jobThe Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and HVAC systems in the world. In this role you will operate, monitor and support physical facilities conditions. You will help inspect, maintain and repair data center systems such as piping, electrical and mechanical components. You will develop creative approaches to reducing operational costs while improving overall data center efficiency.
You will ensure environmental and safety standards are consistently met and manage performance issues and outages to minimize recovery time.
- Plan and execute campus operational budgets, expense forecasting and manage established budgets.
- Set strategy and plan deployments across multiple sites.
- Lead efforts to integrate Google-wide strategy and execution with internal and external business partners.
- Create strategy for cost effective operations, focused on total cost of ownership.
- Demonstrate critical thinking and innovation in approaching traditional data centers and emergent challenges.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience in Military/Trade.
- 5 years of experience as a Facilities Manager, Chief Engineer or Operations Manager in Mission Critical Field, including Facility, Technical and Team Management.
- 3 years of experience with power distribution (MV switch gear, substations, UPS).
- 3 years of experience with vendor management and Maintenance Operation Procedure (MOP)/Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) execution.
- MBA or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience as a Navy Nuclear Electrician (EMN), Army Prime Power (12P), or Master Electrician with industrial experience.
- Experience with HV (69kV+) and MV (13.8kV-34.5kV) switching.
- Knowledge of National Electrical Testing Association (NETA) testing standards.
US base salary range: $105,000-$151,000 plus bonus, equity and benefits.
