Roadway Design Engineer II

We are looking for a talented Civil Engineer to join our growing Roadway/Highway design team in the Kansas City region. The ideal candidate for this role will be an EIT with experience working on local agency and/or DOT roadway design projects. Our Roadway/Highway Design team is involved in a wide variety of street, roadway, highway and multi-modal transportation design projects for local public agencies and state DOT’s.

• Prepare preliminary design plans, documents, and specifications under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Conduct analyses and perform standard computations, drawings, and visual aids for projects.
• May coordinate work with entry-level engineers, technicians, or other staff.
• Collaborate with the design team to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Conduct field inspections to gather relevant data and contribute to site assessments.
• Utilize design software and tools for drafting and modeling.
• Support the development of cost estimates for projects.
• Perform quality control self-checks of assigned work.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering field from an ABET accredited civil engineering program.
• Passed FE/EI exam
• 5+ years of relevant roadway design engineering experience
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Micro Station
• Strong understanding of design principles and standards
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including:
  Excel, Word, and Power Point
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work individually or as part of a team
