Essential Functions And Primary Duties

• Underwrite, service, and manage assigned accounts of high complexity
• May have production goals assigned and measured on new business goal attainment
• Prepare and maintain periodic reports pertinent to the ongoing operation of the department
• Monitor and evaluate programs for profitability
• Assess exposure and determine rates, terms and conditions of coverage in accordance with guidelines and uses judgement underwriting to evaluate a risk
• Determine either to accept, modify, or decline risks and request reinsurance as necessary
• Decrease value of policy when risk is substandard to limit company obligation, and specify applicable endorsements, or apply rating to ensure safe and profitable distribution of risks
• Develop or modify policy wording when standard text is not appropriate
• Bind coverage and initiate issuance of documents
• Sign policy and authorize transmittal of documents to brokers and markets as required
• Additional responsibilities as assigned
• Complexity is based on the degree of uncertainty, financial risk, technical requirements, urgency, and volume or size.

• Bachelor's degree

• High School Diploma or GED required
• At least 5 years of underwriting experience
• Must maintain current required licenses and certifications relevant to field of expertise
• Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
• Advanced customer service skills
• Proficient use of applicable technology
• Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
• Ability to analyze and prioritize multiple responsibilities
