Essential Functions and Primary Duties

• Primary focus is to assist in servicing and operational management of accounts.
• Underwrite, service and manage assigned accounts of moderate complexity. Complexity is based on the degree of uncertainty, financial risk, technical requirements, urgency and volume or size.
• Assess exposure and determine rates, terms and conditions of coverage in accordance with guidelines and uses judgement underwriting to evaluate a risk.
• Determine either to accept, modify, or decline risks. Request reinsurance as necessary.
• Decrease value of policy when risk is substandard to limit company obligation, and specify applicable endorsements, or apply rating to ensure safe and profitable distribution of risks.
• Develop or modify policy wording when standard text is not appropriate.
• Bind coverage and initiate issuance of documents.
• Sign policy and authorize transmittal of documents to brokers and markets as required.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree preferred
• 3 to 5 years of underwriting experience
• Must maintain current required licenses and certifications relevant to field of expertise
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of the organization, both internally and externally
• Proficient use of applicable technology
• Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
• Ability to analyze and prioritize multiple responsibilities
