Clinical Pharmacist:
Core Competencies and Responsibilities
- Preparing and accurately dispensing medications.
- Collecting, organizing, and analyzing comprehensive patient- and practice-specific data.
- Initiating, monitoring, and adjusting therapeutic plans as needed.
- Collaborating effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Providing direct supervision and guidance to supportive personnel.
- Managing departmental projects and initiatives.
- Delivering routine patient education and expert drug information services.
- Ensure all practice activities strictly adhere to local, state, and federal laws and regulations, as well as standards set by relevant accreditation bodies.
- Design, recommend, monitor, and evaluate patient therapy regimens to achieve defined clinical goals.
- Deliver appropriate and cost-effective pharmaceutical care to all patients.
- Communicate proactively with physicians and prescribers regarding medication order changes or clarifications, documenting all interventions appropriately within the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Provide and formally document pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic consultations as required.
- Actively participate in the organization's established processes for assessing, managing, and reporting adverse medication events, adverse drug reactions (ADRs), and medication errors.
- Educate patients and caregivers on medication use to support adherence and optimize therapeutic outcomes.
- Deliver concise, applicable, and timely responses to all drug information inquiries.
- Perform comprehensive interpretation and verification of medication orders and prescriptions for appropriateness prior to preparation or distribution.
- Prepare and dispense medications utilizing appropriate techniques and strictly following organizational policies and procedures.
- Maintain professional development and engagement by attending all scheduled departmental meetings and continuing education programs, as required.

- Licensure:
- Licensed Pharmacist (KS) - Kansas Board of Pharmacy
- Licensed Pharmacist (MO) - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
- Medication Therapy Services (MTS) Certification - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross
- Schedule: This position follows a 7-on/7-off rotation for day shifts, consisting of a mixture of 8-hour and 12-hour shifts.
