Mental Health Therapist (LMSW, LCSW, LPC) – Full Time

Location: 101 Truman Medical Center, University Health 1 (UH1), Kansas City, Missouri

Department: Community Mental Health Center

Work Schedule: 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM, 40 hours per week

Position Type: Full time

Job Description: University Health is looking for a compassionate, skilled mental health professional—a Licensed Professional Counselor, Social Worker, or Psychologist—to join our Crisis Intervention Team. You’ll make a direct impact by providing emergency mental health services to individuals in crisis at our Hospital Hill Emergency Department and local emergency shelters. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast‑paced settings, works well independently, and is passionate about helping people find stability and hope during difficult times.

What

You’ll Do
  • Respond to mental health crises with compassion and professionalism.
  • Conduct emergency assessments and connect clients with the right care and community resources.
  • Provide short‑term case management and crisis support for shelter residents when needed.
  • Collaborate with clients, families, and community partners to develop effective care plans.
  • Advocate for clients facing complex challenges such as homelessness, trauma, or mental illness.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation and uphold compliance standards.
What You Bring
  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field.
  • Active Missouri license (LPC, LCSW, or Licensed Psychologist).
  • 5–7 years of experience in mental health or social services.
  • Strong understanding of psychiatric terminology and community‑based resources.
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and crisis intervention skills.
  • Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and trauma‑informed care.
